Mojave dessert held a couple races back in the 1980’s. No reason why they can’t do it again, though I suppose someone will always find a reason to shut it down. There is not much interest in air racing like there was in the 1930’s where it even captured the attention of the general public. Unless that happens again (which it won’t), promoting air racing is an uphill battle.
If they cannot do pylon racing, perhaps some other format could be used.
